Let’s get to know each other.
I grew up on a 320-acre cattle farm in South Central Virginia. Lunenburg County has four stoplights — total. I learned a lot on that farm — how to work no matter what the circumstance, live with what you have, and love God’s creation. Today, I live in Bedford County – home of the Peaks of Otter and D-Day Memorial.
It’s my Grandaddy’s headstone that defines where I come from. Sitting on top of a hill and just a few feet above solid bedrock, it reads “PERSEVERANCE.” From my Dad, I learned perseverance. From my Mom, I learned faithfulness. Both parents molded me for the world while perseverance and faithfulness prepared me for it.
But it is the freedom in Christ that defines who I am. I live life with joy, striving to serve God, my husband, my family, and the community.
My prayer is that “the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O God, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalms 19:14
Ask me how to turn over 50 lb dripping wet square hay bales.
Ask me how I made it through college working three jobs.
Ask me how I served an unbelieving husband in a (then) rocky marriage.
Ask me how I overcame alcohol addiction.
Ask me how I survived an 80-day NICU stay with my 1 lb 7.9 oz daughter in 2010.
Ask me how I’ve walked through PTSD and depression.
Ask me, and I’ll tell you about full surrender, selfless obedience, and the only faithful God available to us through Jesus Christ.
